Fawad Ahmed Chaudhry, also known as Fawad Hussain Chaudhry, may be a Pakistani politician who has been in office since April 19, 2019, the current Federal Minister for Science and Technology.

Prior to that, he was the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting from August 20, 2018 to April 18, 2019. He has  a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan . He has been a member of the core committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf since June 4. 2019

He ran for the seat of the National Assembly of Pakistan as a candidate of PML-Quaid from NA-63 (Jhelum-II) in 2013 Pakistani election but was unsuccessful.  he also ran for the seat of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as an independent candidate from Constituency PP-24 (Jhelum-I) but was unsuccessful. He received only 82 votes and lost the seat to Raja Muhammad Awais Khan.[14]

In June 2016, he joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).[15][16]

In June 2018, he was allocated PTI ticket to contest the 2018 Pakistani election from Constituency NA-67 (Jhelum-II).[22] An election tribunal rejected the nomination papers of Chaudhry after a petition was filed claiming Fawad had not paid agriculture tax.[23] The Lahore tribunal allowed Chaudhry to contest the election after he filed an appeal in court against the election tribunal's decision.[24][25]

He was elected to the National Assembly as a candidate of PTI from Constituency NA-67 (Jhelum-II) in 2018 election. He received 93,102 votes and defeated Nawabzada Raja Matloob Mehdi, a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N).[26] within the same election, he was also elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as a candidate of PTI from Constituency PP-27 (Jhelum-III). He received 67,003 votes and defeated Nasir Mehmood, a candidate of PML-N.[27] Following his successful election, he expressed interest to become the Chief Ministers of Punjab in a very TV broadcast.[28][29]

In April 2019, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced a serious reshuffle of the federal cabinet and Chaudhry was removed as Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting.[32] He was subsequently appointed as Federal Minister for Science and Technology.[33][34]

In May 2019, Chaudhry launched Pakistan's first official moon-sighting website and issued five-year calendar supported scientific readings of the moon’s movement in a very bid to finish Pakistan's moon-sighting controversy,

We are well aware that private educational institutions are facing a severe financial crisis due to non-payment of fees. Children from class I to VIII have been promoted to the next level while students from class IX to XII have been promoted. However, amendments are to be made in the law in this regard, which is being worked on. We are not in a position to give any final date for the opening of educational institutions at this time. However, a final decision in this regard will be taken at the meeting of the Steering Committee of the Education Department.
The Sindh Education Minister said that we are well aware of the fact that private educational institutions are facing severe financial crisis due to non-payment of fees and that is why we have repeatedly requested parents to pay their children's fees. ۔ Even if the school administration implements the SOPs, the children come in the school van and there will be no implementation of the SOPs. اس حوالے سے سندھ حکومت کی جانب سے طویل مشاورت کی گئی۔ اب اعلان کیا گیا ہے کہ سندھ میں تعلیمی اداروں کو یکم جون سے نہیں کھولا جائے گا۔ تعلیمی اداروں کی بندش میں مزید اضافہ کر دیا گیا ہے۔ اس حوالے سے محکمہ تعلیم سندھ نے باقاعدہ نوٹیفیکیشن بھی جاری کر دیا ہے۔ جبکہ وزیر تعلیم سندھ سعید غنی نے کہا ہے کہ اس وقت تعلیمی اداروں کو کھولنے کا رسک نہیں لے سکتے۔

ہم اس بات سے بخوبی آگاہ ہیں کہ فیسوں کی ادائیگی نہ ہونے سے نجی تعلیمی ادارے شدید مالی بحران سے دوچار ہیں۔ پہلی سے آٹھویں جماعت تک کے بچوں کو اگلے درجات میں ترقی دے دی گئی ہے جبکہ نویں تا بارہویں کے طلبہ و طالبات کو پرموٹ تو کردیا گیا ہے البتہ اس سلسلے میں قانون میں ترامیم کی جانی ہے،جس پر کام کیا جارہا ہے۔ ہم اس وقت تعلیمی اداروں کو کھولنے کے حوالے سے کوئی حتمی تاریخ دینے کی پوزیشن میں نہیں ہیں البتہ اس حوالے سے محکمہ تعلیم کی اسٹیرنگ کمیٹی کے اجلاس میں حتمی فیصلہ کیا جائے گا۔

وزیر تعلیم سندھ کا کہنا ہے کہ ہم اس بات سے بخوبی آگاہ ہیں کہ فیسوں کی ادائیگی نہ ہونے سے نجی تعلیمی ادارے شدید مالی بحران سے دوچار ہیں اور اسی لیئے ہم نے والدین سے متعدد بار استدعا کی ہے کہ وہ بچوں کی فیس لازمی جمع کروائیں۔ اگر اسکول انتظامیہ نے ایس او پیز پر عملدرآمد بھی کرلیا تو بچے اسکول وین میں ہی آتے ہیں وہاں ایس او پیز پر کوئی عملدرآمد نہیں ہوسکے گا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ نجی تعلیمی اداروں کو بلا سود قرضے اور ان کی مالی معاونت کی پوزیشن میں سندھ حکومت نہیں ہے البتہ وفاق چاہے تو ایسا کرسکتی ہے۔
